Mobile veterinary staff handled and cared for animals, assisted treatment and prepared patients for evacuation. The two men’s precise duties within the section have not been established.
Where it fitted
McDonald’s papers record transfer to the 6th Mobile Veterinary Section on 7 October 1916 and later attachment to 14th Australian General Hospital as a hospital orderly. Evesson’s treatment at that general hospital was medical care for him. An orderly attachment and a patient’s admission are distinct connections.
Brief history
The supplied service papers establish the two men’s association with the numbered section. Exact formation dates, a complete station sequence and their overlapping posting dates have not been reconstructed here.
Historical material
Evesson’s original medical report, board opinion, newspaper portrait and death notice are displayed with his biography. McDonald’s service review identifies his section transfer and the later inquiry into his fatal fall at Port Said.
