Some changed corps or role, or died after discharge. Each biography retains the man’s recorded service identity.
Sources and method explains the coverage and evidence. The Research guide helps you follow a life through the records.

The researchers
The memorial brings together research by Graham Hodgkins BA (History) and Pete Matthews MRCVS, continuing the original Veterinary Virtual War Memorial. Its hospital accounts draw on Hodgkins’s war-diary research and Medal News articles. Family contributions and archival sources are credited where they appear.
The book
Graham Hodgkins is preparing The Men Behind the War Horse: The Other Ranks of the Army Veterinary Corps in the First World War (working title). A publication date has not been announced. Contact the researchers about the book.
The memorial includes men beyond the book’s scope and stands as an independent record of commemoration.
