What the men did here

Veterinary evacuation depended on collecting and handling animal patients, preparing them for movement and maintaining identification through handover. Dickson’s individual duties have not been established.

Where it fitted

Dickson’s movement from a veterinary hospital to an evacuating station records a change in a man’s duties. It should not be read as a fixed sequence followed by animal patients. His later admission to 41st Stationary Hospital was his own medical treatment.

Brief history

The current account is centred on the May 1918 posting in Dickson’s service papers. The establishment’s exact station sequence, formation and closure dates remain to be researched.

Historical material

Dickson’s casualty forms record this posting and his later attachment to 4th Australian Division Headquarters. His biography gives the service chronology.
