His story

Thomas Holt Fowler enlisted as Tom Fowler, a married labourer from Waddesdon, Buckinghamshire. He named his wife Catherine at 23 Gordon Avenue, Verdun, Montreal, as next of kin. His attestation gives his birth date as 16 September 1878; other compilations differ, so his age is not settled by combining their entries.

His declaration was dated 23 October 1914, with the oath completed at Montreal on 3 November. The form records 14th Company, Canadian Army Service Corps, Remount. He later served in the Canadian Army Veterinary Corps. He died on 27 October 1918 and was buried at Ste. Marie Cemetery, Le Havre.
