His story
Captain Frederick John Delaine came from Emerson, Manitoba, Canada, and graduated in 1902. Earlier research gives his birth date as 5 December 1880, which conflicts with the age of 38 in the CWGC cemetery register.
He went to France as a Lieutenant in 1914 with the Army Veterinary Corps and was attached to the Royal Field Artillery.
He became ill while serving in France and returned there after recovering. He was later sent home suffering from shell shock.
He became ill while on leave. His casualty document records his death at the Toronto Free Hospital for Consumptives, Weston, Ontario. He died on 21 March 1918 from tuberculosis.
Captain Delaine is buried in Toronto (Prospect) Cemetery.
