His story

David Millard was born at Dunmore, Victoria, around 1881 and worked as a labourer. His father William John Millard was recorded at Wallacedale; David enlisted at Hamilton. He served with the 2nd Veterinary Section and later the 4th Mobile Veterinary Section, returning to Australia after chronic bronchitis. He died at Hamilton on 8 October 1918, aged thirty-seven, and was buried at Myamyn and Condah Public Cemetery.

The subsequent review of his service papers records discharge on 26 June 1918. Chronic bronchitis is documented, but the reviewed evidence does not conclusively establish it as the cause of death.
