Biography
Major William Henry Taylor MRCVS was born on 12 March 1883 in Samford Peverell, Devon, England.
He graduated from the Royal College on 14 July 1905, after which he joined the Army Veterinary Corps. The 1911 Census shows Lieutenant Taylor serving in South Africa. On September 19, 1911, Taylor was promoted to Captain.
At the outbreak of the war in August 1914, Captain Taylor was part of the British Expeditionary Force that went to France. Captain Taylor was to command the number 3 Mobile Veterinary Section.
In October 1915, Captain Taylor was promoted to Major and was to serve in the Headquarters Staff for the Number 2 Army Corps. While serving in this capacity, Taylor was to be Mentioned in Dispatches.
Major Taylor was to die in France on 11 February 1919. Aged 35 after a short illness, most likely Spanish Flu. He is buried in Longuenesse, St Omer Souvenir Cemetery.
