Biography

Captain Wilfred Francis Laurie Bright MRCVS was born in Camberwell, South London, England, on 8 March 1866. He graduated from the Royal College in December 1907.

Wilfred Bright took up a Commission with the Army Veterinary Corps on September 9, 1908, and served in South Africa from 1910 to March 1913, when he was seconded for service with the Egyptian Army.

At the outbreak of the war in August 1914, Captain Bright went to France as the Veterinary Officer for the 3rd Brigade. He arrived in France on 13 August 1914.

During the war, Captain Bright had various postings, including being appointed Deputy Assistant Director of Veterinary Services (DADVS) to the 59th Division with the rank of Major. On March 20, 1919, he was appointed to the Army of the Rhine to be DADVS at General Headquarters.

During the War, Captain Bright was twice mentioned in Dispatches.

Captain Bright returned to England in March 1920 and embarked on April 27, 1920, for a tour of India. He was killed on 22 November 1921 at Zhob as a consequence of the unsettled state of affairs in India.

Captain Bright does not have a Commonwealth War Grave, as his death occurred shortly after the August 1921 cut-off.
