Biography
Captain Thomas Zachery Woods was born in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada, on 22 June 1868.
Thomas Woods served in the Boer War in South Africa and enlisted in the Canadian Army on September 19, 1914.
He arrived in France on 1 April 1915 and was posted as a veterinarian to the Headquarters Divisional Train. He was later transferred to the 2nd Infantry Brigade Divisional Train.
On 4 April 1916, he was wounded by a shell and suffered serious injuries to his hand and a compounded fracture of the left femur. He died from these wounds two days later.
Captain Woods was buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery near Ypres.
