Biography
Captain Thomas Lilico MRCVS was born in 1866. He graduated from Edinburgh University in May 1888. He lived for a period in Canada and the United States before settling in New Zealand. He was appointed Captain on 5 February 1904, having previously served in South Africa.
Captain Lillico served with the New Zealand Veterinary Corps in the early years of the war but was discharged from service in March 1916 due to varicose veins.
He died on 5 April 1917. An inquest into his death shows that he died of alcoholism.
He is buried in Linwood Cemetery in Christchurch, New Zealand. He does not have a Commonwealth War Grave.
Thomas Lillico’s death was reported in the Veterinary Record on 9 June 1917.
