Biography
Captain Thomas Eastwood MRCVS was educated at the Manchester public schools and trained for his profession at Edinburgh.
He was briefly assistant to a large firm in Manchester and then practised in Northwich some 25 years ago. The County Council appointed him one of the inspectors for Mid-Cheshire and regarded him as a most capable veterinary surgeon.
In 1915, Thomas obtained a commission in the Army Veterinary Corps and was soon promoted to Captain. An attack of rheumatism resulted in him being invalided out of the service; his heart was also affected by the rheumatism.
He was at the meeting of the Northwich Board of Guardians (of which he was a member) on Monday, 8 January 1917, but on Tuesday afternoon, he had an apoplectic seizure, and he passed away on the morning of 10 January from cerebral apoplexy.
The funeral took place at Northwich Cemetery.
Captain Eastwood’s death was reported in the Veterinary Record of 20 January 1917, and his Obituary appeared on 27 January 1917.
