Biography

Major James Blakeway MRCVS was the son of James Blakeway, senior, MRCVS of Stourbridge in Worcestershire.

James Blakeway qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London, in July 1904 and practised with his father in Stourbridge.

He served in the Worcestershire Yeomanry and volunteered for service with the Army Veterinary Corps at the outbreak of war. During the war, he served as a Deputy Assistant Director of Veterinary Services with the rank of Major.

He died, aged 36, in a Military Hospital in Paris of Influenza on December 4 1918 and is buried in the City of Paris Cemetery, Pantin.
