Biography

Captain Frederick Owen Maynard served in France from the commencement of the war and, in March 1917, was sent to Egypt and Palestine, where he served with the Indian Army.

At the war’s end, he volunteered for a further 12 months. He was travelling to Kantara before he departed for England when he was stricken with pneumonia and pleurisy and passed away at the 24th stationary Hospital Kantara on January 12, 1920. The Commonwealth War Grave Commission index to the Kantara Cemetery lists the cause of Maynard’s death as malaria.

Maynard’s obituary was published in the Veterinary Record on February 7, 1920.
