Biography
Lieutenant Arthur Doyle Bingham was unique among the veterinary surgeons who died in the First World War. His Commonwealth War Grave Register shows that he served with both the Royal Flying Corps and the Army Veterinary Corps.
Arthur Doyle Bingham was born in India on 26 November 1868, the son of Major John Ashby Bingham of the Indian Ordnance Department. Arthur Bingham qualified as a veterinarian in March 1896.
Very little has been found of Lieutenant Bingham’s service during the war.
Lieutenant Bingham died from cancer on 3 October 1917. He is buried at Nunhead Cemetery London.
His death was reported in the Veterinary Record of 13 October 1917.
